Montclair Pedestrian Safety Committee to Make Report
The committee will make a Feb. 10 presentation of its strategic plan to the Town Council

The Montclair Township Pedestrian Safety Committee is scheduled to present its strategic plan to the Montclair Township Town Council on Feb. 10, amid heightened concerns about a wave of accidents involving cyclists, pedestrians and motor vehicles.
According to a group called Bike & Walk Montclair, the committee will present five specific strategies that Montclair could implement in order to improve pedestrian safety.
Montclair has been working with Charles Brown, the senior research specialist at the Alan Vorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University, on strategies to mitigate the risk to pedestrian safety. According to research previously disclosed, Montclair had a total of 446 pedestrian accidents for the ten-year period ending in 2013, with seven of those fatal.
