Montclair Police Blotter: Multiple Arrests and More

Nov. 18 Blotter: A man arrested for operating a car without brakes, graffiti found at the Nishuane Park House, a stolen laptop and bike

Arrest

  • Charade Jenkins, 50, from Montclair was placed under arrest for shoplifting from Pathmark. On Saturday November 8 at 2:40 p.m., security saw Jenkins place laundry detergent in a backpack and then exit the supermarket. Jenkins was also found to have an outstanding $1,500 warrant out of town. Her bail was set at $2,500 cash.
  • Elijah Williams, 19, from Montclair and a 17-years-old juvenile, were placed under arrest for fighting. On Saturday November 8 after officers responded to Central Avenue, on a report of a physical altercation in the street. When officers arrived, they witnessed a group of males standing around two other males, who were actively fighting. Williams and the juvenile were charged with disorderly conduct.
  • Wilson Chery, 32, from Montclair, was operating a 2000 Ford Focus that he knew had no brakes. On Monday November 10 at 9:06 p.m., an officer in a marked patrol car was driving north on Elm Street, Chery’s vehicle approached from behind, passed the officer in the oncoming lane of traffic, and proceeded northbound. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered that Chery had open warrants out of East Orange totaling $900. He was placed under arrest for these warrants and the vehicle was towed for being unsafe.
  • Yvette Tenhoeve, 45, of Montclair arrested on an open warrant out of Randolph Township for $965. Officers responded to High Street on a noise complaint on Monday November 10, at 9:50 p.m. Upon arriving, officers discovered a verbal dispute between two neighbors. Tenhoeve was one of the parties involved.
  • Isaiah Boatwright, 24, from Montclair, was placed under arrest on a $1,500 Montclair warrant. On Wednesday November 12 at 8:42 p.m., officers observed Boatwright in the area of Elm Street and Fulton Street, he was known to have a warrant out and was placed under arrest as a result.

Burglary

  • An HP Laptop, a kindle fire and jewelry were stolen from a home on Midland Avenue. The victim said that on Thursday November 13, between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., someone had entered their home through an unlocked rear door. The victim reported the burglary on Friday November 14. Theft

  • A Toshiba Laptop with a silver shell was stolen from an unlocked Toyota Rav-4. On Monday November 10, the car entered the Lackawanna Mall parking lot and parked in the east parking lot. The laptop was stolen from the car between 8:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.
  • A gray and black BMX TY brand bicycle was stolen from the area of Bellevue Avenue and Valley Road. The bicycle was reported stolen on Wednesday November 12, after it had been left on the sidewalk at 9:00 p.m., and was noticed missing at 10:00 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.

Miscellaneous

  • A broken window was discovered at the Charles Bullock School located at 55 Washington Street. It appears that someone was throwing chunks of broken concrete at the building, causing the window to break. There were so signs that anyone had gained entry to the building. The window was last seen intact on Friday November 7 at noon, but was reported broken on Monday November 10 at 8:18 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.
  • Unknown persons sprayed graffiti on the side of the Nishuane Park house in purple and white paint. The vandalism was brought to the attention of officers on Monday November 10. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.
