Montclair Police Respond To A Burglary In Progress

Woman reported waking up and discovering a strange man in her Maple Avenue apartment.

At about 5:20 a.m. Friday morning, Montclair police were sent to an apartment on Maple Avenue after someone reported a burglary in progress. The caller said that she woke up to discover a tall light-skinned Hispanic man with shoulder-length dark curly hair. The man was wearing blue basketball shorts and a white T-shirt.

The caller said that she yelled at the suspect "Get out of my house" and the man fled from the apartment and ran north through backyards towards Lexington Avenue after leaving through the rear kitchen door. There were no signs of forced entry to the apartment and there was nothing reported missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Charles Cunningham at 973-509-4716.
