Montclair Gathering Planned In Wake Of Derek Chauvin Verdict
George Floyd's death sparked nationwide protests demanding racial justice and police reform, including in Montclair.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A gathering is being planned in Montclair for Wednesday, April 21 in the wake of a guilty verdict in the murder trial against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.
Chauvin, who is white, was charged in the death of Floyd, a Black man who died after Chauvin kneeled on him for more than nine minutes despite Floyd's protests that he couldn't breathe.

Organizers wrote online that a “respectful” gathering is being planned for 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Montclair at the Martin Luther and Coretta Scott King statue in Nishuane Park. Participants should wear masks.
