Montclair Recycling Collection Still Suspended Due To Coronavirus
Montclair suspended curbside recycling collection due to COVID-19 cases among its DCS workers. Here's where to go in the meanwhile.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Curbside recycling collection is still suspended in Montclair due to the coronavirus pandemic. But for now, the township will be expanding drop-off times at the Department of Community Services (DCS) yard to help local residents get rid of their bottles, cans and other recyclables.
Last week, the township announced it has seen a "significant decrease" in its DCS workforce due to the coronavirus. Some employees have tested positive for COVID-19, and others have been exposed to the virus.
Curbside recycling collection was temporarily suspended until further notice. The garbage collection schedule continued without interruption. Read More: Montclair Recycling Halted Due To COVID 'Staffing Shortages'

In the meanwhile, Montclair residents can drop off their recycling at the community services yard, 219 North Fullerton Avenue, officials said.
As of March 3, the yard’s open hours will increase as per the following schedule:

“We thank everyone for taking time out to properly dispose of their recyclable materials,” Montclair town officials said.
Mayor Sean Spiller gave an update on the situation last week, noting that the township has tried to reach out to other recycling haulers with no luck. Three of the companies refused due to similar staffing challenges, and one provided a “six-figure quote” per month.
“That is just not an option at this time,” Spiller said.
Given the numbers of residents bringing recycling to the DCS yard at 219 N Fullerton Ave, recycling drop-off days, hours are increased as follows: Wed: 8AM-6PM Fri: 8AM-6PM Sat: 8AM-6PM. We thank everyone for taking time out to properly dispose of their recyclable materials.
