Montclair Remembers Jordan Tassy With Tree Planting (VIDEO)

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair paid its respects to a beloved resident who died after catching the coronavirus during a tree planting ceremony at Nishuane Park last week.
Several community members gathered at the park to honor Jordan Tassy with a dogwood tree, which will serve as a reminder of the 22-year-old’s community spirit.
The town was left reeling in March when Tassy died from complications related to COVID-19.
When a wave of coronavirus cases temporarily sidelined Montclair's recycling workers, Tassy saw a chance to fill a need in his community. Rolling up his sleeves, he hauled payloads of bottles, cans, cardboard and more to the municipal yard on North Fullerton Avenue for neighbors who couldn't manage the task themselves. It was an entrepreneurial spirit that made him scores of new friends along the way.
