Montclair School District Announces New Director Of Pupil Services

Linda Mithaug will start on January 18, 2011.

The Montclair School District has appointed Linda Mithaug as Director of Pupil Services effective January 18, 2011. She will repalce Dr. James Scagliotti, who is retiring.

According to a letter from Superintendent Dr. Frank Alvarez:

"This appointment brings her full-circle back to Montclair Public Schools, as Ms. Mithaug's first teaching experience was as a student teacher at Glenfield Middle School. Her career developed into one where she excelled in the field of Special Education and her breadth of experience and knowledge in teaching, case management, administrative oversight, and program development brought her respect among her peers.

"In her current role as Director of Special Services for Bloomfield Public Schools she emphasized program development and collaboration between parents and district staff. Before advancing into the director role at Bloomfield, she served as a special education teacher, an LDT-C child study team member, and a supervisor of special services. Apart from her public school experience, Ms. Mithaug served on the board of the Junior League of Montclair- Newark, working with community members and volunteers to provide resources and services for children-at-risk in Essex County. She also facilitated an after-school tutoring program and coordinated scheduling for the Columbia University Child Study Center.

"Ms. Mithaug earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, Administration and Supervision Certification from Montclair State University, and Master of Arts in Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Ms. Mithaug resides in Roseland with her husband and three children.
During the next few weeks, Ms. Mithaug will meet with staff and parents to acquaint herself more fully with the needs of our district, our mission and our goals and vision. I trust you will join me in welcoming Ms. Mithaug as she reconnects with the Montclair community."
