Montclair: Share Your Gift Of Literacy

Training classes for want-to-be tutors will start next month.

Volunteers are needed to tutor adults in basic literacy—as well as in English for speakers of other languages.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, Literacy Volunteers of America (LVA) of Essex and Passaic Counties, in partnership with the Montclair Public Library, has scheduled tutor-training workshops at the Montclair Public Library on September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, and 18, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Attendance at all six sessions is required. The address of the library is 50 S. Fullerton Avenue in Montclair.

After completing the training workshops, the newly trained tutors will be paired with students that they may tutor at a local library or other public place convenient for them.

Knowledge of another language is not necessary and no prior experience is required. The training is free (except for your time).

Organizers ask that you please consider sharing your gift of English with someone as it's a great way to make a difference in the life of another.
