Updated: Montclair Public Schools to Close for Snow

Montclair Public Schools are closed and Montclair State to delay opening until 10:30 a.m.

Montclair Public Schools said they would close on Monday as a winter storm is expected to dump up to 10 inches of snow and up to a half inch of ice on the region.

Montclair State University said it would delay its opening until 10:30 a.m. and classes would not begin until 11:30 a.m.

Immaculate Conception High School said it will close and Montclair Township said it will suspend several major services on Monday as a winter storm is forecast to dump up to nine inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain on the region.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning from 7 p.m. Sunday until 6 p.m. Monday evening, as the storm is expected to dump up to 10 inches of snow on the region and up to a half inch of ice, which could lead to down trees and power outages.

Montclair officials said it will suspend refuse and recycling, evening shuttle and senior shuttle services tomorrow due to the storm.

Residents were reminded not to shovel or plow snow back into the street, as such a move would slow down efforts to clean the streets after the storm.

Montclair Ambulance Unit issued an alert to residents noting that up to a quarter-inch of ice and winds gusts of up to 30 miles per hour could impact the region.
