WATCH: Montclair State University student Isadora Williams will compete at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — If you follow the Olympics or figure skating in North Jersey, there’s a good chance that you’ve already seen Isadora Williams in action. After all, the Montclair State University student has already competed among the best in the world at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

But when Williams takes to the ice this month to represent Brazil at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, she’ll have experience on her side.

SHE HAS DUAL CITIZENSHIP - Williams, the daughter of a Brazilian mother and American father, is a dual citizen of the United States and Brazil.

SHE STARTED EARLY – Like many Olympic athletes, Williams discovered her love for the sport early, learning to skate at age 5. She still spends up to three hours on the ice, five days a week.

SHE NEEDS MORE FREE TIME – In addition to her training schedule, Williams also balances a full schedule of classwork, coaching and generally running from place to place. “It almost feels strange if I ever have a day with free time at this point,” she said.

SHE DIGS MONTCLAIR - I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned from Montclair that has translated into my skating is being able to set goals, and working towards those goals while being organized and managing my time,” Williams said. “Another thing that I’ve correlated between skating and Montclair is that sense of community and support. I have my [skating] coaches here, and I have the Montclair staff and all of my teachers who have always been so supportive and have cheered me on in my journey going to the Olympics.”
