Montclair Students Create Solution For Internet Downtime

Four teams from Renaissance Middle School in Montclair — TORN (Technological Organization of Renaissance Nerds), Mark VIII, The Clankers and Burbotiacs — competed in the FLL North Jersey Regional Middle School Robotics Competition at Clifton High School last month.

The Clankers brought home the overall award for "Robot Design" and also qualified for the state level finals to be held at Mt. Olive High School on Saturday.

Aside from the personal success, their project could be a big win for the town of Montclair. The Renaissance Clankers have created a solution for when some parts of town lose Internet access due to a power outage while other pockets are fine. The solution is based on the powered pockets temporarily sharing their access.
