Montclair Thai Restaurant Closing, But Another Will Open
An award-winning restaurateur who owns Boon Thai Kitchen in Livingston and Spice II in Montclair has plans to open a new eatery.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — An award-winning chef/entrepreneur has announced plans to open a new Thai food restaurant and close another of her locations in Montclair.
Chef Sheree Sarabhaya, who owns Boon Thai Kitchen in Livingston and Spice II in Montclair, recently announced plans to open a new restaurant – Kai Yang – at 345 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair near The Wellmont Theater.
Kai Yang is expected to open in September and will be located in a 100-square-foot, 40-seat space designed by PixelExperience. It will be open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Monday, and will be closed Tuesdays. Kai Yang will be a BYOB establishment.

According to Sarabhaya, the menu will include freshly prepared Thai market street foods such as kai yang, which literally translates to grilled chicken. The menu will also include traditional papaya salad, sticky rice side and dipping sauces with variations that include pork or beef. (See the restaurant's website here)
The new restaurant will also feature several of the chef’s signature Thai dishes from Spice II in Montclair, which Sarabhaya plans to close at the end of August.
