The Montclair Police Department released the following statement about the incident, which took place on June 23:

“Montclair police responded to a residence on Parkhurst Place on a report of a burglary in progress. The victim reported that she was sitting in her sunroom towards the rear of the house, when she observed an unknown male standing behind a half-wall which separates the sunroom and the kitchen. As soon as she made eye contact with the suspect, the victim fled from the house and ran to a neighbor’s house where she contacted the police. At this time, it does not appear as though the suspect was able to take anything.”
