Montclair's Favorite Kitty Finds a New Angel
After spending 913 days at Montclair Animal Shelter, a Carteret-based shelter helped April Love find a new outlook

After spending more than 2 1/2 years waiting for adoption at Montclair Township Animal Shelter, April Love has found a new beginning.
The adorable cat, which suffers from a condition that makes her breath very loudly, has spent a total of 913 days at the shelter, being repeatedly overlooked because potential owners were concerned that her health posed too much of an obstacle to a normal home life.
However, interest in the feline went viral late last year after sharing her story on Facebook, which led to more than 3,500 shares on the social networking site and calls and emails flowing in from as far away as California.

“The outpouring of love for sweet April Love is inspiring,” said Karen Shinevar, leader of the shelter cat team at Montclair Animal Shelter.
Cartaret Animal League, a nonprofit animal rescue based in West Carteret, N.J., has stepped in to rescue the cat and provide a full medical workup.
