​Montclair's Watchung Deli​ Closes After 94 Years

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Watchung Deli in Montclair is closing its doors after 94 years in business.

The delicatessen announced its closure in a Facebook post on Sunday, citing the coronavirus pandemic for the closure.

"In the wake of the terrible virus that has taken our world by storm, we were forced to make the very difficult decision to close our doors permanently," the deli wrote on Facebook. "We are grateful for the years we were able to serve you and your families and for the friendships we developed with so many of our customers."

Amid its closure, the Watchung Deli encouraged residents of Montclair to continue to support local businesses.

"Small businesses are the backbone of this wonderful town we live in and we encourage everyone to shop locally during this trying time," the post read.

The deli was located at 117 Watchung Avenue in Montclair.
