Mountainside Medical Center Offers Individualized Care For All
Juhayna K. Davis, MD of Mountainside Medical Center tells Patch about her 14 years in pulmonary medicine.

Juhayna K. Davis, MD specializes in pulmonary medicine at the Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Group. For more than 14 years, Dr. Davis has been striving to help patients understand their illnesses and makes it her mission to "provide care to everyone, as though they were my parents."
Patch caught up with Dr. Davis to learn more about her successful career and work at Mountainside Medical Group:
Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?

Dr. Davis: I have been a practicing physician for over 14 years. I joined Mountainside Medical Center, which is part of Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center, a cornerstone in our community.
Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?

Dr. Davis: I had a mentor at Yale University Medical Center who encouraged me to pursue a career in his field, pulmonary and critical care medicine.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger, what would you say?
Dr. Davis: Provide care to everyone, as though they were my parents.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Dr. Davis: Having lost a parent to the very disease I treat.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Dr. Davis: Helping people understand their illness and making them feel better, medically and emotionally.
Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Dr. Davis: We have a multi-disciplinary team of physicians who work together to establish a diagnosis and individualized treatment plan.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Dr. Davis: Live a life of honor, one that allows you to sleep well at night.
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Dr. Davis: I am a part of the Mountainside Medical Center Lung Cancer Screening and Lung Nodule Programs. We meet on a regular basis to review patients’ histories, CT chest imaging and provide evidence based recommendations for further diagnostic and treatment options.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Dr. Davis: I will be presenting a free lecture at Crane’s Mill at West Caldwell called COPD: What You Need to Know. I will be discussing who is at risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. I’ll also share tools to prevent and treat COPD.
Every May, Mountainside Medical Center hosts a women’s health event that I am looking forward to attending. Female physicians from Mountainside Medical Center invite women in our community to join us in learning about how health issues affect women, their families and loved ones. Our goal is to bring women together in a friendly, supportive atmosphere to help improve women's health, build connections and strengthen our community.
