My Block: Which Block Is The Best In Montclair?

Residents talk about why their block, Summit Avenue, is the best block in Montclair.

Two weeks ago, Patch started a segment titled "My Block." The goal is to find out why you believe your block is the best in Montclair. In our inaugural segment, we heard about Inwood Avenue. Last week, we heard about Midland Avenue. And this week we are hearing about ... drum roll please ... Summit Avenue, with June Haberbusch and other proud residents telling us what makes their street the best street to live on in Montclair.

Summit Avenue - between Grove Street and Park Street - is a block that's synonymous with fun, food, and friends. Not only is there an annual holiday cookie swap, but neighbors often share dishes with each other. For years, one resident, Lou Palma, has made his own ravioli as well as his own mozzarella and other dishes, and has graciously shared samples with those on the street.

There also are book clubs, wine clubs, and an annual block party that's enjoyed under a huge Summit Avenue banner.
