My Block: Which Block Is The Best In Montclair?

This week, resident Andrea DelleChiaie, the owner of Milk Money, and her neighbors talk about why their street, Chester Road, is the best block in Montclair.

In July, Patch started a segment titled "My Block." The goal is to find out why you believe your block is the best in Montclair. In our inaugural segment, we heard about Inwood Avenue. Then Midland Avenue. Then Summit Avenue. Then High Street. Then Trinity Place. Then Oakwood Avenue. Then Macopin Avenue. Then the neighborhood known as "Fieldstone." And then last week we had Debra Simon talking about Edgemont Road.

And now we are looking at Chester Road. With only 24 houses, this road may be a small one, running from Grove Street to Brookdale Park, but it's a close-knit one. Neighbors talk about block parties, Halloween parades, and progressive dinners that go back to before 1980. It's also one of the few roads to have its own formal organization — the Chester Road Association. There's even a friendly rivalry between the "odd" numbered houses and the "even" numbered houses. All in all, everyone seems to get along.

Residents say one of the main reasons the road is so special is because everyone is different. All ages, political persuasions, and household situations are represented. There are people with lots of kids and people with no kids.
