New Jersey Artist's Colorful, Energetic Paintings to be Displayed in New York City
Susan Marx's paintings will be on display at the Agora Gallery in Chelsea from Oct. 10 to 30.

Susan Marx draws inspiration from her paintings from the impressionists, the fauves and the abstract impressionists -- a self-described combination of light, color and energy. She paints the open air with her bare feet on the grass to bring her outdoor works to life.
Marx’s work, “Modalities of Expression,” will be featured in the Agora Gallery in New York City from Oct. 10 to Oct. 30 for free, with most of the pieces for the event being inspired by the landscape near her home in New Jersey. The reception will take place Oct. 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Her style has been described as using quick, heavily paint-laden brush strokes. There is no color blending and the length of her strokes varies. She paints spontaneously and in color, using fast-drying acrylics so she can capture her reactions to the world around her, Marx says.
