New York Times Reviews Fin

Critic has a lot of nice things to say about the Montclair restaurant.

A summer evening may be the perfect time to stop by which opened in Montclair in October, according to New York Times food critic Scott Veale.

Veale's glowing review of the Montclair eatery, which rated Fin "Worth It," ran Friday in the N.Y./Region section of the Times.

Veale reported that a visit to Fin in November found a work in progress with haphazard service and hit-or-miss cooking. But, now, the place has gotten its act together, he said.

"We tried lots of oysters—there are at least a half-dozen varieties on any given night—and there wasn't a clunker among them. (There's a reason Fin sells as many as 1,000 a week.) You might mix up a dozen of the delicate Beau Soleils and kumamotos with the meatier Wellfleets and Totten Inlets," according to the review.

The owners of Fin, Gerry Cerrigone and Robert Gaccione, also run the popular restaurant Salute just a few doors away.

Fin is located at 183 Glenridge Avenue. Bring your own wine or beer. Reservations are recommended.
