MONTCLAIR, NJ — A NJ Transit train hit a pedestrian near the Bellevue Avenue Station in Upper Montclair on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident caused a temporary service suspension on the Montclair-Boonton line in both directions between Bay Street and Montclair State University, resulting in delays up to 45 minutes, NJ Transit tweeted.

The pedestrian was seriously injured but is expected to survive, a NJ Transit spokesperson told TAP Into Montclair. About 15 passengers and crew were aboard at the time; none were hurt.
