Possible Shooting In Montclair, Person Treated In East Orange: PD
East Orange hospital staff said a gunshot victim was admitted to their emergency room. Montclair police are investigating.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police continue to investigate a possible shooting in the township after a person was treated for a gunshot wound at East Orange General Hospital, authorities said Monday.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers got an anonymous call at 10:36 p.m. on Friday. The caller said they heard a possible gunshot on Mission Street around 9:30 p.m., then saw a man bleeding from the leg enter a red vehicle and leave the area.
Officers responded to the scene to investigate, but didn’t find any victims, witnesses or spent shell casings, authorities said.

While the officers were still at the scene, staff at East Orange General Hospital contacted Montclair police dispatchers, stating that a person with a gunshot wound had just entered the hospital’s emergency room, and that the injury allegedly took place in Montclair.
Police investigators responded to the hospital and interviewed the victim, a 31-year-old Montclair resident, who was being treated for a single gunshot wound to the right thigh.

“The actual location of the shooting is still undetermined at this time,” police said Monday.
