Research suggests that a preschool education is a strong solution towards closing the achievement gap. While many families have left their in-person preschool education choices for virtual solutions during the COVID-19 era, top choices, like Virtual Academy, have set the stage for the new normal in preschool education.
In attending a virtual class from home, for 2 hours a day, preschool age students are spending more time learning than their in-person counterparts.

Virtual Academy Director, Jocelyn Lemley, M.Ed., states, “As an experienced Early Childhood Education Director, I’ve noticed that my virtual students are learning at a faster rate than in-person students I’ve worked with before. By mid-November, I have students who are reading full books cover to cover, and it’s attributed to the distractions that don’t exist on the virtual platform. When I worked as an in-person preschool director, a large percentage of my teachers’ days were spent addressing behavior issues, taking students to the bathroom, providing snacks, and addressing basic care needs, just as any student under the age of 6 would need. On the virtual platform, none of that exists. Educators are educating 100% of the time. Parents, grandparents, babysitters, guardians, etc. take on any needed care that comes up for their child, while the teachers’ lessons go uninterrupted.
The biggest difference between a successful virtual preschool education and an unsuccessful one is the energy level, engagement, and enthusiasm provided by the educator. At Virtual Academy, we use Certified Early Childhood Education Teachers who are experienced and passionate in the field. When asked, ‘How on earth are you engaging 3 - 5 year olds for 2 hours straight on Zoom?’ My answer is simple, join us for a day and find out. Seeing is believing. My students are there from 9:00 am to 11:00 am every day. Our engaging curriculum model, the strategies we use for tactile experiences, and high energy teachers sets the bar for a top quality virtual preschool education.”
