As NBC kicks off Season 10 of its popular series "The Biggest Loser" tonight at 8 p.m., Montclair's Real Body Bootcamp is bringing you Montclair's own Biggest Loser Contest beginning October 1.
"The contest was developed because there were a few members who really wanted to lose weight but found their progress was too slow," said Bernadette McLoughlin, the trainer. "There were so many factors involved but we felt that if we made it a competition our bootcampers could have better results while also having fun."
In general, McLoughlin said she believes people enroll in bootcamp because they're bored with the gym or not satisified with the results they're getting.

"They want to get in shape and lose weight but have trouble finding the motivation to get started," she said. "Bootcamp will definitely get you on the right track."
Real Body Bootcamp ran the same contest last year, with members losing an average of two to five pounds a month. The highest weight loss was seven pounds in a month. The contest ran for six months.

"This year we have four days of bootcamp [a week] so the contestants' odds are better," McLoughlin said.Â
Here's how it works:
Contestants must enroll in one month of bootcamp and compete with each other in the early morning hours through an hour of circuit training. Contestants also must complete a food log and weigh in every Friday. Trainers will check in with contestants weekly to discuss their progress.
All contestants must attend all weigh-ins in order to qualify for the grand prize. Not only will the biggest loser win a free month of bootcamp, but they also will win a range of prizes from local retailers — a package worth $500 or more.
To qualify you must have a BMI (body mass index) of 25 or higher — or need to lose 5 pounds or more.
