Salman Rushdie To Appear Live At Montclair Literary Festival

Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival is thrilled to announce its next special event for 2021 – renowned storyteller Salman Rushdie talking online about his latest book, "Languages of Truth: Essays 2003–2020," on Tuesday, June 22 at 8 p.m. He will be live in conversation with a special guest.
In his new book, Rushdie explores the work of authors from Shakespeare and Cervantes to Samuel Beckett, Eudora Welty, and Toni Morrison and what they mean to him, on the page or in person. He delves deeply into the nature of “truth,” and looks anew at migration, multiculturalism, and censorship.

Tickets cost $35 and include a copy of the book "Languages of Truth" bit.ly/Rushdie22. The event will be held online via Crowdcast and a registration link will be sent shortly after ticket purchase.
Salman Rushdie is the author of 12 novels including Midnight’s Children (for which he won the Booker Prize and the Best of the Booker), The Satanic Verses, The Moor’s Last Sigh, and The Ground Beneath Her Feet and one collection of short stories: East, West. He has also published four works of nonfiction including Imaginary Homeland. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University. A former president of PEN American Center, Rushdie was knighted in 2007 for services to literature.

This is a special event for Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival. The fifth annual festival is planned for Saturday October 2, 2021, with in-person and online events.
The festival organizing committee wishes to thank event partners Montclair Public Library, Watchung Booksellers, and festival sponsors Rao’s, West of Hudson Realty Group, Jill Williams (Ameriprise Financial), Ferguson Dental, the County of Essex, NJEA, and community members.
