Labor Day Picnic At Van Vleck Gardens On Monday

For a sweet and rockin’ send-off to summer, head over to Van Vleck
Gardens on Monday afternoon, September 3, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and help yourself to a slice of birthday cake. Horticulturalist Howard Van
Vleck, the last member of the Van Vleck family to reside at Van Vleck
House in Montclair, was born on September 4, 1904. In his honor and to
celebrate the 1993 transfer of the Van Vleck House & Gardens to the
Montclair Foundation, picnickers are invited to a Labor Day potluck at
the gardens. Bring a lunch—and a favorite dish to share—and enjoy a
piece of birthday cake courtesy of Van Vleck. Then kick back and enjoy
an outdoor concert by The Porchistas, Montclair’s own lyrically driven
rock band. The event is free of charge and will be held from 1 to 3 pm
on Monday, September 3, FAIR WEATHER ONLY. Reservations are not
required. Contact info@vanvleck.org or call 973-744-4752 with
questions.
