Seven For Seven: What To Do Around Town This Week
Here's the Patch planner packed with ideas for every day of the week.

Every weekend, Patch will give you a guide as to what's going on around town during the coming week with at least one event for every single day. This next week there is everything from a hair-raising fundraiser to the first school board meeting of the year. Of course, good ideas for what to do can always be found at DestinationMontclair, the Montclair Arts Council's one-stop shop for arts and entertainment information. If you know of any you'd like to add, please add them! Or email me at Shelley@patch.com. And looking ahead: Montclair Schools Rock! 2010 is on the calendar (pending permits, etc.) for Saturday night, October 16. As always it's sure to be a great night of camaraderie, live rock & roll, and community spirit.

    1) Don't miss out on this! Parlor Hair Studio is hosting a musical fundraiser at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 to help communities suffering after the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The salon, along with some of Montclair's best loved bands, will host the "Hair Raiser" to help pay for oil clean-up in the form of hair-filled booms by Matter of Trust. The hair clippings collected from salons across the country are now sitting in warehouses neat the Gulf Coast because funds to create the booms fell short, according to Wendy Fox-Warfield, co-owner of Parlor. For the suggested $5 donation, music in the salon and food will be served out back, Fox-Warfield said. The idea is simple foods, rice and beans, mac and cheese and hummus, and lots of music. "We're trying to make this a trash-free event," she said. A local restaurant donated glassware to the event. For more information see here.
