Stolen BMW, 3 Thefts From Vehicles Reported In Montclair

A car was stolen and three other vehicles were broken into last week in Montclair, authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A car was stolen and three other vehicles were broken into last week in Montclair, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township.

  • January 12 (Orange Road) - A victim reported that his commercial work van was entered during the overnight hours, with the suspect or suspects forcing the door open. About $2,000 worth of power tools was missing.
  • January 14 (Willowdale Avenue) - A resident reported that her vehicle was entered during the overnight hours. Her wallet was discovered missing. Several fraudulent transactions in East Orange were made on the victim’s credit cards.
  • January 18 (Marston Place) - A victim reported that his 2006 BMW X3 was stolen during the overnight hours. The vehicle was reportedly parked directly across the street from his residence. The vehicle contained a laptop computer, an iPhone and miscellaneous tools.
  • January 18 (North Willow Street) - A victim reported that while walking to her vehicle that was parked on North Willow Street, she saw an unknown man rummaging through the car. The victim yelled and the man fled onto Claremont Avenue. He was described as a male in his late teens or early twenties, with a thin build and black, curly hair, wearing a black coat and jeans.
