Tax Bills Due May 1 In Montclair: What You Need To Know

The Montclair Municipal Building is currently closed to the public until further notice due to the coronavirus.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Municipal Building is closed to the public due to the coronavirus until further notice. But your tax and water bills still have to be paid, town officials say.

According to a municipal advisory, property tax payments are due May 1 with a 10-day grace period.

The final grace period due date for making water bill payments is May 1. Interest will accrue on late payments from the April 1 deadline.

  • The finance department has waived online transaction fees for tax, water and sewer payments. The township will credit all bill payment transaction fees on future bills – this includes credit card and electronic check payments for property tax and utility bills paid online. We encourage everyone to make payments online. To pay your tax, sewer, or water bill online, visit: wipp.edmundsassoc.com/Wipp/?wippid=0713
  • In-person bill payments will no longer be accepted at the township
  • All check payments are to be dropped off into the box located outside towards the front of the building, next to the US Postal Service mailbox.
  • All checks must be in an envelope clearly noting to which department they should go, or what services are being paid for (Clerk's office applications, building department, water/sewer bill, etc.)
  • If you need confirmation of receipt of payment, please call the appropriate department for confirmation but please wait two weeks for processing payment.
  • Cash payments will not be accepted.
