“After years of developing properties throughout the tri-state area, we were thrilled to be able to build in a such a vibrant community like Montclair,” said David Barry, CEO of Hoboken-based Ironstate Development Company. “The dynamic, local culture heavily influenced the design of the building and development of the new Wellmont Arts Plaza to create a new destination for Montclair residents.”
Designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve and Minno Wasko, with interiors by Kara Mann Design, Two South Willow respects the historic architecture and brickwork of adjacent buildings, such as the Wellmont Theater. Stylish apartments feature bright and open living spaces, modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances, large built-in closets including walk-in closets in many of the residences, in-home washer/dryers, and balconies and terraces in many units. A wide variety of layouts ensure that everyone can find the apartment to best suit their needs.

Shared social spaces designed to foster natural opportunities for residents to meet and interact include a private courtyard, fitness center with Peloton bike, rooftop study with a fireplace, and a roof deck with fire pits, BBQ grills, and a shuffleboard court overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The building also offers keyless entry access and on-site, covered parking.
The residential space will reflect the art district’s cultural influence with a tile mural in the lobby by Portuguese atelier Can Ran and a unique front desk fashioned from a whole tree trunk by furniture designer John Houshmand.
Just outside the door lies a burgeoning arts destination, with a portion of Seymour Street being converted into a pedestrian-only space to create the Wellmont Arts Plaza. Designed by Montclair-based landscape architect Arterial, the plaza will include extensive landscaping, outdoor seating, and multiple art installations, as well as space to host open-air performances and other events, creating a vibrant gathering place throughout the year. Retail tenants Gravity Vault, opening soon this Summer, and One River School will be the first of many new businesses contributing to the fabric of the new plaza.
Two South Willow will not only place residents in the heart of a new arts district, but in the heart of Montclair itself, just steps from retail, restaurants, and mass-transit access. Known both for its vibrant shopping and dining options and its quiet tree-lined streets with beautiful homes, Montclair is a place people love to call home. Residents of Two South Willow will find cultural treasures at the Montclair Art Museum and cozy art galleries throughout town, fine dining and eclectic international cuisine on Bloomfield Avenue, sidewalk cafes and boutique shops on Church Street, and numerous parks, bike trails and dog parks nearby. The annual Montclair Film Festival attracts filmmakers from around the world, and the Montclair Jazz Festival brings in talented musicians for two weeks of outdoor performances every year.
