W. O. resident Explores Creativity and Mental Health on 5/10/21

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH- For the entire month of May In place of Why the Show Must Go On at 5pm you can see a virtual play reading at 7:30 pm.MHANJ in collaboration with the Corona Collaborative Collective, will present virtual play readings by some of the tri-states finest. Each play will have a mental health theme and a customized message by Lynette Sheard about the B4stage4 philosophy, emotional wellness tips, resources and support services offered by the MHANJ. The schedule is as follows:May 3rd- Rabbit Hole Rabbit Hole is a play by David Lindsay-Abaire, it tells a story about the main character named Becca who experiences a traumatic experience losing her only one son named Danny because of a car accident. Eight months have passed but Becca still cannot deal with her grief.May 10th -The Dresser is a 1980 West End and Broadway play by Ronald Harwood, which tells the story of an aging actor's personal assistant, who struggles to keep his charge's life together.May 17th -33 Variations is a play by Moisés Kaufman, inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. It débuted on Broadway on March 9, 2009, starring Jane Fonda. Originally written in 2007, its world première was held at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.May 24th - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is the unforgettable story of a mental hospital and its inhabitants. When a brash new inmate arrives, the rigid program of the ward, headed by the tyrannical Nurse Ratched, is thrown up for grabs. In a world where sanity means conformity and following the rules is the only way to survive,May 31st - Agnes of God is a 1979 play by American playwright John Pielmeier which tells the story of a novice nun who gives birth and insists that the child was the result of a virgin conception.
