Wellmont Theatre Is Back In Business!!!

A chunk of ceiling had fallen, forcing the theater to close.

Weeks after being forced to close when a chunk of plaster came crashing down from the ceiling, the Wellmont Theatre said Friday afternoon that it is back in business — and just two days before a scheduled concert by Lyle Lovett.

In a statement, the theatre said that: "The Wellmont Theatre is open for business! After working closely with the Montclair building inspector and an independent contractor, the owners and leaseholders were able to repair the plaster ceiling to ensure patron safety. As a result, the Wellmont has received its temporary certificate of occupancy from the town of Montclair. We encourage all music lovers to come to the Wellmont Theatre to enjoy Lyle Lovett on Sunday and upcoming shows with Counting Crows, Tears for Fears, and Foreigner.  Please go to the www.wellmontheatre.com for concert updates and information."

Montclair Township Manager Marc Dashield recently said that the Township had been forced to revoke the popular venue's temporary Certificate of Occupancy because of safety concerns.
