Sophia Presto was absolutely dominant on the mound for 12U Black on Wednesday night, pitching a two-hit shutout, walking just 3 batters, while striking out 12. Sophia was extremely sharp with her command across all 7 innings, throwing 68 of 99 pitches for strikes. Riverside’s pitching was also very strong, as the Quakes’ offense managed only 3 runs on 3 hits total. Moorestown’s 3 runs all came in the 3rd inning, ignited by a walk and superb base running by Isabelle McCloud (who hustled home on a passed ball), followed by a perfectly-executed two-out drag bunt hit by Madison Reilley, who then scored on a hammered two-run homer by Julia Miller. Riverside mounted a very serious threat in the top of the 7th, getting the first two batters on base, but Mae Murphy made a truly spectacular sprinting, over-the-shoulder catch in deep right field to thwart the rally and very possibly save the game for the Quakes!!

Moorestown Quakes 12U Black 12 Cinnaminson Pirates Black 2
It all came together for 12U Black last Thursday night in a dominant 12-2 win over Cinnaminson. The offense was humming as the Quakes piled up 11 hits and 6 walks in just 4 offensive innings, and the pitching was also superb, as Moorestown allowed just two unearned runs in the 1st inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Julia Miller and Tori Misselhorn, who each had two hits and hit monster triples deep into the outfield. Miller scored 3 runs, while Misselhorn tallied 2. Melaina Locatell went 3-for-3 and scored 3 runs, while Ava Patel also had 2 hits. Patel also started at pitcher, and went 2 innings, allowing only 2 hits and one walk, while striking out one. EOM Angels 10U 5 Moorestown Quakes 10U Black 1
Moorestown ran into a dominant pitcher on Saturday night in South Philadelphia, as EOM’s Snyder pitched all 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits and NO walks, while striking out 15. Snyder was incredibly accurate, as she pitched an amazing 57 strikes in only 74 pitches. However, two Moorestown hitters did figure out Snyder, as Kristen Speegle had 2 singles in 2 at bats, and Ava Reilley brought home Speegle with Moorestown’s only run on a crushing double to the left field fence in the top of the 6th. Jaida Rodriguez pitched very well for Moorestown, allowing just 5 hits while walking only 3 and striking out 6. Moorestown’s defensive play of the night was a double play in the 3rd inning, a grounder to Ava Reilley at 2B, who fielded and threw to Eliana Albert at 1B, who then threw back to Rodriguez in the circle, who then fired home to Caroline Boren to nail an EOM runner attempting to slide under Boren’s brilliant tag at the plate.
Mt. Laurel Diamonds 10U 14 Moorestown Quakes 10U Black 2
Following a Saturday night out in Philly, the Quakes on Sunday traveled to meet one of the league’s best teams in the Mt. Laurel Diamonds. Despite the final score, the Quakes did battle hard, with a number of girls making very strong contributions. Mt. Laurel’s pitching dominated the action with 13 strikeouts, and only one hit allowed. Kambry Jackson ended Mt. Laurel’s no-hit bid with an infield single leading off the 5th inning. Meanwhile, Caroline Boren walked twice, stole two bases, and made a brilliant catch of a line drive to 1B. Amaya Grady pitched well for Moorestown, while Francesca Tola was robbed of a hit off a line drive right back at the pitcher, who made a great catch. Another highlight for Moorestown was a tough catch at SS by Elliana Albert who avoided colliding with her teammate to make the grab.
