Code Blue In Burlington County This Weekend, Officials Warn

Temperatures are expected to drop drastically in the region this weekend.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Burlington County will be under a Code Blue Weather Emergency this weekend. The Code Blue will be in effect from 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, until 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, county officials announced. Officials will then review and assess upcoming weather forecasts.

“A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter,” Burlington County Freeholder Director Tom Pullion said. “When a Code Blue is enacted it provides for short-term emergency sheltering.”

During normal business hours, public buildings are available as warming centers. For overnight shelter, individuals can call 856-764-6945, ext. 6128 or ext. 6122 for Emergency Shelter information.

“During a Code Blue declaration, we encourage residents to stay indoors in heated areas,” Pullion said. “Extreme cold weather can be just as dangerous as extremely hot weather. This is the time to watch out for those most vulnerable among us, especially children and older adults. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.”
