Code Blue In Burlington County As Winter Storm Bears Down
A Code Blue is in effect for Burlington County overnight as the first winter storm of the season bears down.

Burlington County will be under a Code Blue Alert on Monday, county officials announced. The Code Blue Alert will be in effect from 10 a.m. Monday morning through 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. Officials will then review and assess upcoming weather forecasts.
“A Code Blue declaration is made in Burlington County when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to individuals without shelter,” Burlington County Freeholder Director Pullion said. “When a Code Blue is enacted, it provides for short-term emergency sheltering.”
During normal business hours, public buildings are available as warming centers. For overnight shelter, individuals can call New Jersey 211 for Emergency Shelter information.

“During a Code Blue declaration, we encourage residents to stay indoors in heated areas,” Pullion said. “Extremely cold weather can be just as dangerous as extremely hot weather. This is the time to watch out for those most vulnerable among us, especially children and older adults. Caution also should also be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures.”
Along with the frigid temperatures, a winter storm was expected to bear down on the region. In some areas, as much as 8 to 12 inches of snow was expected to fall. Read more here: NJ Weather: Timeline, Hour-by-Hour Forecast Of NJ Snowstorm
