NJ Fire Updates: Significant Progress Made, 407 Acres Burned
Another forest fire has broken out in New Jersey this week, burning hundreds of acres.
VINCENTOWN, NJ — Another forest fire has broken out in New Jersey, burning hundreds of acres on Tuesday as fire officials say the dry conditions in the Garden State are working against their suppression efforts.
The latest fire burned 407 acres at Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in Burlington County on Monday and Tuesday, the second forest fire in South Jersey in the last three days, according to officials.
On Tuesday afternoon, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said it had made "substantial progress" in containing the fire, which was first reported at about 10:20 p.m. Monday night near Pea Patch and Turkey Buzzard roads.

"The large wildfire was reported to be burning in the area west of Four Mile Road, which was closed to reduce traffic while firefighters work the fire," the Forest Fire Service said early Tuesday afternoon. "The Batona Trail has been closed to public use in the area of the fire."
The Forest Fire Service, New Jersey State Fire Marshal and Burlington County Fire Marshal are investigating the fire's cause.

No homes or structures are in danger from this fire, 6 ABC reports.

Fire officials say the dry conditions are likely a contributing factor since little rain has fallen in the area recently.
Although no cause of this fire has been determined, officials have said that dry conditions and the lack of rainy weather may be contributing factors for fires at this time of year.
