Leonard Fitts To Be Appointed Moorestown Interim Superintendent

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Leonard Fitts will be appointed the Moorestown Public School District’s interim superintendent during a special Board of Education meeting Tuesday night, according to the district’s website.

Fitts will assume the role from Scott McCartney, who announced earlier this year that he was resigning, effective July 1. Fitts will serve through June 30, 2022, or until the board selects a permanent superintendent.

The board will also appoint Illinois-based Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to help find a permanent superintendent, pending attorney review.

According to the AASA, Fitts has worked in school districts for over 40 years as a school psychologist, principal and county superintendent.

Fitts has served as interim superintendent in the Mahwah, Burlington City, West Berlin, Glassboro, Camden and Willingboro public school districts.

Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates(HYA) is a network of independent education consultants across the nation, according to the firm’s website. It has more than 30 years of executive search and education consulting experience.
