Why are you seeking elective office?

As a third generation Moorestonian, now is the time to pay forward all that this town has given me. I learned what it meant to be on a team thanks to Moorestown youth athletics. Our community gave me the tools to earn a Division 1 football scholarship. This is where I learned what it means to be a public servant—values I draw on every day as I assist South Jersey veterans, families, and local leaders through my job in Senator Booker’s office. I’m grateful to Moorestown for shaping me into who I am today. I’m seeking a full term on the Town Council because I want everyone to have the same opportunities that I did.

To do this, we need someone on Council who has deep knowledge of our community, and connections to residents who feel their voices haven’t been heard. In just the few short months I have held the position, I've been working to support our local economy, preserve our natural environment, and make sure every voice is heard. I am committed to working for all of us and using my experience on Council so far to continue building on the progress we’ve already made.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

I’ve spoken to as many residents as I can in the past few months, and everyone agrees: Moorestown and its economy aren’t just ready to recover, but ready to grow. The COVID-19 pandemic hit many people in town hard, but Council has seen us through these tough times and helped position us for the future. I worked with Council on new initiatives to bring in microbreweries and distilleries to town, an exciting new source of revenue to help ease the tax burden on our residents. I am involved in the efforts to revitalize the Moorestown Mall—including bringing in a new healthcare facility—and invest in Lenola’s economic development. On top of that, I am committed to supporting existing businesses as our residents and economy get back to work. People in town are energized about the future and ready to write the next chapter in our town’s history. I am excited to see all that we can accomplish with a commitment to hard work and cooperation.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

When I say that I am working for all of us, I truly mean it: I’m getting things done to make our town better, and I’m doing it by communicating and collaborating with people across the political spectrum. Whether it’s supporting our local environmental groups or getting feedback from the economic development committee, I haven’t wasted a moment jumping into my role and making things happen. I have the energy and the determination to make Moorestown a better place, and at only twenty-four, I am committed to using both my unique perspective and my experience on Council to move us ahead. Ultimately, I am responsible to the voters, not my party - and I will continue to work for all of them when re-elected.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

I have gotten the opportunity the past few months to work alongside a group of incredible residents on preserving our environment. In my roles on the Tree Planting and Preservation Committee and the Environmental Advisory Committee, I have advocated for a new stormwater ordinance and sought to expand initiatives for clean energy. Whether it’s spending my weekends helping to clean up our parks and playground facilities or sharing the importance of planting trees with our elementary students, I am grateful for the chance to do this work on Council and will continue to support these efforts after the election.

I also have a long history as a community organizer, a passion I developed from my years playing football and soccer in Moorestown. Working on teams and then later coaching them, as I did with Rec basketball, I saw firsthand the importance of strong cooperation and the hard work it takes to ensure everyone feels valued. That’s why I am involved in the Moorestown Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Task Force, a first of its kind committee that brings residents in town together to support each other and create an inclusive and welcoming town. Investing time and energy into reaching across neighborhoods and the political aisle to find common ground and celebrate each other is one of the things I am proudest of. With a full term on Council, I intend to continue that work and bring us together now and in years to come.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I am a founder of Moorestown Alumni for Racial Equity and Inclusion, which connected me with people of all ages and backgrounds from throughout our vibrant community. I am also deeply involved in our Alumni Association, having led the effort to fund need-based scholarships for juniors preparing for the SAT and ACT. Through that work, I also help mentor students of color in middle school and encourage their academic and social success. These roles have kept me grounded in the community and reminded me of how important our networks of support are. I have a record of hard work and dedication across town—whether on Main Street or Merion Avenue—and I will continue to bring that every day to my seat on Council.

The best advice ever shared with me was:

The best advice ever shared with me was: “Listen more than you speak.” In my job as a constituent services advocate, I have found the value in working as a team and seen different kinds of leadership up close. The best leaders don’t talk all the time, or act like they have all the answers. They stay and listen, taking in feedback and hearing what those they serve have to say. On Council, I am committed to showing up, working hard, and in staying open to learning from and listening to those around me to find solutions. Most importantly, I am committed to listening to everyone - no matter your age, background or where you live in town. And above all, I promise I will continue to work for all of us.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

One thing that’s clear from talking to people around town—no matter what their politics, age, or background—is that everyone is proud to be from Moorestown, and they want to see our town thrive. Everything that I have done so far on Council and everything that I will continue to do is with that goal in mind. People reading this can see my record, including times when I disagreed with other members of Council. My opinions and votes are a matter of public record, and Moorestonians should know that I vote with my heart for what I believe is right for the town. Above all, I committed to working for all of us, and will do so every single day.
