Moorestown Baseball Team Starts Season Undefeated

Moorestown was one of eight remaining undefeated baseball teams in New Jersey on Wednesday, according to nj.com.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - The Moorestown High School baseball team is one of eight in the state that remains undefeated, according to nj.com.

After opening with a 3-1 win over Bordentown, the Quakers have picked up victories over Cinnaminson, Pennsauken, Timber Creek and Northern Burlington to improve to 5-0.

The Quakers broke a tie in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 5-4 win over Cinnaminson on April 16. Brian McMonagle was 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs in the win. Evan Francisco picked up the win, striking out three batters in an inning of work. Jesse Specter tossed five innings, fanning 10, walking two and allowing two hits and two runs.

Moorestown also broke a tie in its 4-1 win over Pennsauken on April 18, when it scored three runs in the top of the seventh. McMonagle was the winning pitcher, striking out 10 batters and not allowing a hit in four innings of work. He walked three batters. At the plate, he was 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the win. Wyatt Atkinson was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run.

A 10-0 win over Timber Creek was dramatically less dramatic for Moorestown. Francisco picked up the win on the mound, striking out five and not allowing a hit in five innings of work. He hit one batter. Adam Robinson was 4-for-4 with seven RBI, including two home runs and a double.

On Wednesday, Moorestown fell behind early, but scored eight unanswered for an 8-2 win over Northern Burlington. McMonagle threw a complete game, striking out eight batters, walking three and permitting four hits. Adam Shubert was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and two RBI.
