Moorestown Cop To Discuss Child Bike Safety At FEP

Moorestown Police Department Patrolman Joel Mufalli will speak to children in the Moorestown Friends Enrichment Program (FEP) on Sunday.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Police Department Patrolman Joel Mufalli will speak to children in the Moorestown Friends Enrichment Program (FEP) this weekend, and children from outside the group are also invited to attend.

“We are concerned about the safety of our children playing, riding their bikes in the streets without helmets,” FEP Founder and Coordinator Monique Begg said at Monday night’s council meeting. “There was a child who was hit by a car while crossing Church Street last year. He was in a wheelchair for a while, and he is still having problems.”

Muffali will speak at the Friends Meetinghouse on Sunday, Oct. 13, 3 p.m. He will make a presentation aimed at increasing awareness among children, so they can avoid unnecessary accidents. It will be the second of two conversations FEP has had on the issue. The first took place on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Begg agreed with resident Pamela Richards, who said that parents need to teach their children to respect police officers and adults. Begg also believes it is the responsibility of all residents to make parents aware of how their children are behaving, and that children must learn personal responsibility.

The public at large is invited to this weekend’s presentation. However, the meetinghouse can only hold a limited number of people, so those who may wish to attend should call Begg at 856-235-3963. The presentation is expected to last one hour.
