Moorestown Council Seeks Volunteers For Advisory Committees

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Council is looking for four volunteers to sit on two township advisory committees.

Township Council would like to fill one vacancy on the Open Space Advisory Committee. The committee consists of nine members and meets once a month. The committee is tasked with:

• examining and updating the township’s open space inventory;
• identifying critical sites and environmentally sensitive areas;
• examining preservation, acquisition and financing strategies and techniques;
• providing community education and involvement;
• identifying and prioritizing open space goals and specific implementation recommendations (long and short term); and
• advising Township Council, the Planning Board and the Township Manager on matters involving the preservation of open space in Moorestown.

Township Council would also like to fill three Student Member seats on the Recreation Advisory Committee. The committee meets once a month, except for in July and August.

It consists of 11 members, each for a term of two years as well as four additional members (students). This includes two sophomores (one boy, one girl) and two juniors.

Two sophomores are appointed every year. They serve for two years, taking over the spots allocated to juniors in their second year.

The committee consults with and advises the Council, Manager and Director from time to time with respect to recreational policies, programs and activities in Moorestown. Student members are entitled to receive community service hours for hours served.

Anyone interested in serving is invited to complete and submit, no later than June 7, a Citizen Leadership Form through the website.
