Moorestown High School Now Full Remote As Coronavirus Cases Spike
The school district announced that the high school will be in full-remote learning amid plans to reopen five days a week for students.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Due to the increase in the recent number of coronavirus cases, students at Moorestown High School will be in a full-remote learning environment through April 18, according to the school district.
All clubs, activities and athletics are also canceled during this time, the district said in a post on its website. As of Friday, there were 11 total active cases involving students at Moorestown High School, and 82 students were being quarantined.
The William Allen Middle School is the only other school in the district that is currently reporting any cases, with just one. Thirty-four students at the middle school have been quarantined, and 201 students district wide are in quarantine.

The announcement comes as the latest "COVID-19 Activity Level Report," which is issued weekly, says Burlington County is once again at high-risk for the coronavirus.

According to the most recent numbers provided by the Burlington County Department of Health, there have been 1,315 cases of the coronavirus and 78 deaths in Moorestown since the pandemic began. Five new cases were reported in the township last week. Health Director Herb Conaway said the county is averaging 113 new cases a day.
The announcement also comes as the district is discussing a return to five-day in-person learning for Grades 4-12, effective April 19. Read more here: Moorestown Schools Extend 5-Day In-Person Learning To All Students

These plans included a reduction in social distancing with additional mitigation measures, but Gov. Phil Murphy recently changed the social distance restrictions in schools from 6 feet to 3 feet. Read more: Social Distance For Many NJ School Students Changes To 3 Feet
He has also urged schools to reopen now, and said that all schools will be fully reopened by the fall.
