Moorestown Home Care Honors Employees Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

TLC Home Care Services is hosting a recognition luncheon for those who are taking care of the sick and the elderly during the pandemic.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — It has been a tough year. Those on the front line have sacrificed a lot, taking care of the sick and seniors, while risking their own lives and families, but there is a group of caregivers who have not been in the news as much.

These workers have worked inside all year in homes and nursing and assisted living facilities when the COVID-19 numbers were soaring. They have provided much needed care and companionship at a time when both were sorely needed.

Kelly McCabe, President and Owner of TLC Home Healthcare Services thinks these workers deserve a strong shout out and some pampering too.

“Home Health Aides and Nurses Assistants are the unsung heroes of the pandemic,” notes McCabe. “They don’t get the same recognition as other frontline workers, yet they also go into work every day in uncertain, unprecedented times, often putting themselves at risk to take care of other people’s loved ones. We wanted to do something just for them."

So McCabe made a plan and partnered with the Moorestown Community House, Georgetti’s Catering in Cinnaminson and Spavia Day Spa in Moorestown to provide a Recognition Luncheon for the 40 some caregivers who work for her.

Strictly adhering to the CDC and State of NJ COVID-19 safety guidelines, TLC took a few hours on March 31 to recognize the hard work of these unsung heroes with some special awards, a pampering goodie bag, and a catered meal.

“Studies show that 92% of people over the age of 65 prefer home care and in fact, by 2030, the number of people aged 65 and older is expected to rise to 70 million, or about 20% of the American population," McCabe said. "This growing population will require more caregivers to accommodate them and there is already a shortage of them. At TLC, we feel if we treat our caregivers well and like family, they will, in turn continue to take good care of our clients. They are amazing, and with what they have gone through this past year, it is the least we can do.”
