Moorestown Softball Team Plays For Sectional Title Tuesday

Moorestown advanced to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 final with a win over Ocean City, according to nj.com.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown High School softball team will play for a South Jersey title on Tuesday.

The sixth-seeded Quakers advanced to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 final with a 4-2 win over No. 6 Ocean City in the semifinals, nj.com reports. The Quakers will visit No. 4 Delsea, an 11-2 win over No. 8 Cherry Hill West in the semifinals. A time has not yet been set.

Julianna LaRusso turned a two-run deficit into a 4-2 victory with her grand slam in the third inning for Moorestown, according to The Burlington County Times. The Quakers held on for the win. Claire Falcon, Erika Heffernen and Elena Iliadis also scored on the game-winning blast.

Moorestown brings a 13-9 record into the final. They opened the playoffs with a9-3 win over No. 11 Lacey before a 2-0 upset of No. 3 Mainland, according to nj.com. LaRusso and Brittni Fiore each had an RBI in the top of the third in the win over Mainland.
