MTC will perform "Winnie The Pooh Kids" at its new Performing Arts Studio starting Thursday, and "Frozen Jr." at WAMS next month.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — A cast of veteran Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) actors will lead the way for a performance of a classic show in a new setting for MTC this weekend.
- Thursday, November 14, 6 p.m.
- Friday, November 15, 7 p.m.
- Saturday, November 16, 2 p.m.
- Saturday, November 16, 6 p.m.
MTC’s Performing Arts Studio is located at 820 East Gate Drive in Mount Laurel. MTC has been there since September, when it was left looking for a new home after the building it had been using became unavailable. Read more here: MTC Finds Temporary Home For Fall Programs
The studio is best used for MTC’s smaller kids shows, such as “Winnie The Pooh,” which features a 21-member, 13-and-under cast, according to MTC Artistic Director Mark Morgan. It has about 100 seats, and Morgan said they squeeze in a few extra seats if the need arises.

The cast is lead by MTC veterans, Morgan said. It has several 12-year-olds who have performed between 20 and 30 shows with MTC. There’s also a nice group of first-timers, who will be able to learn from the veterans as they prepare for and perform in the show.
“It has all the classic characters, and it’s perfect for young kids and anyone who grew up watching Winnie The Pooh,” Morgan said. “It’s a short show. It runs a little over an hour and there’s an intermission. It’s good for younger kids, and it’s perfect for a new audience.”

It is the first of MTC’s “Disney Double Feature” to cap its 17th season. The other is “Disney’s Frozen Jr.,” which will run for six shows next month at the William Allen Middle School, 801 North Stanwick Road.
This is a bigger show, featuring 70 performers who are 18-and-under, and is double-cast. This includes more than 20 male performers, which is an unusually high number of male performers for a local theater company, Morgan said.
It is the MTC premier of “Frozen,” and the first time the show is available for theater companies to perform. Read more here: Auditions Underway For MTC’s ‘Frozen Jr.’
