Moorestown Woman Who Served For American Airlines Remembered

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Elizabeth Rose (Bo) Bunker Howland, 95 of Moorestown, NJ, died peacefully of natural causes on January 30, 2021.

Elizabeth had worked as a stewardess for American Airlines in New York, NY, 1950-1952, where she met her husband William Anthony Hoppin Howland (1913-2005), a pilot with American Airlines. She also had volunteered as a member of the Huntington Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, Huntington, NY, for many years while raising six children.

She grew up in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of author John L. Bunker and Dorothy Schmidt Bunker. She graduated Ursuline Academy in 1943, attended Xavier University, Cincinnati, and volunteered for the USO during WWII.

She wrote and recited poetry, loved movies and was an avid fan of Frank Sinatra and Lucille Ball. She easily made friends with people from all walks of life and was a devoted Catholic and Christian. She was a quick wit with a zest for life.

Howland and partner Judson Laird of Bat Cave, NC; Patricia Howland Bond of Baltimore, MD; and the late Janet E. F. Howland and Richard A. M. Howland. Also survived by her daughter-in-law, Terri R. Howland of South River, NJ; sister-in-law Martha H. Bunker of Cincinnati, OH; and many nieces and nephews, and 8 Grandchildren: Bonnie R. Warren and partner Lalanya of Boston, MA; William E. Warren and wife Lauren of Bear, DE; Sarah S. Warren of Asheville, NC; Christopher W. Howland and wife Dani of San Antonio, TX; Elizabeth R. Howland of Austin, TX; Julia C. Bintliff of Moorestown, NJ; James Piper Bond, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; and the late Jared E. Warren and 3 Great Grandchildren: Mason W. Warren, Caden T. Warren and Julie Beth Howland.
