Search Continues For New Moorestown Schools Superintendent

The district hopes to have an interim superintendent in place by June 15, as it searches for a permanent replacement.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Public School District continues its search for both an interim and permanent superintendent of schools, members of the Board of Education said during this week’s meeting.

Earlier this year, Scott McCartney announced he was resigning as the district’s superintendent, effective July 1.

“We have a very strong central administration,” Board of Education President Caryn Shaw said. “Our interim superintendent is going to assist them in transitioning to a permanent superintendent.”

The board recently interviewed potential candidates, and it hopes to have an interim superintendent in place by its next meeting, on June 15.

The district has put out a request for proposal to search firms in an effort to find a permanent replacement. Interviews with those firms, which will lead the search, begin next week, Shaw said.

“That search will be much more extensive and inclusive,” Shaw said. “There will be all different stakeholders involved: parents, students, and community members.”
