MOORESTOWN, NJ — The 64th Moorestown premiere is bringing another first for the Moorestown Theater Company (MTC): animated projections. Those who go to see the theater company’s production of “Disney’s Frozen Jr.” will see the snow fall on the castle as Arendelle falls under an unwanted winter spell. They will then see it melt as summer returns to the fairy tale kingdom.

“We wanted to spruce up what we were doing, and the capability is there at the middle school,” MTC Artistic Director Mark Morgan said. “We’ve used still pictures before, but this is the first time there will be movement on the projections.”

Morgan and his staff were inspired after going to see “Frozen” on Broadway in September. They were also inspired to use puppets for the Olaf and Sven characters, and are borrowing the puppets from a theater company they’ve worked with in Pennsylvania. Fans of MTC will be treated to something new, something the staff really enjoys.

“We do shows more than once, but it’s nice to be able to bring something new,” Morgan said of being the first group to perform the show in Moorestown. “It’s challenging and invigorating for our staff.”

It is a Moorestown premiere, meaning it will be the first theater company in Moorestown to perform the show. In the past, MTC has put on 13 Burlington County premieres, a bunch of East Coast premieres and one world premiere.

The show has 68 performers total from 27 different schools in the region, and it is double-cast. The older performers, who are high school age, are in the Gold cast, while the younger performers, who are in middle school, are in the Black cast.

There are eight children who are 8 years old and two who are 6 that will perform in the musical numbers. They are all performing for the first time. Morgan said no matter which cast they go see, the audience will be impressed with the performance.

“I am proud of the way both casts are performing,” Morgan said.

The show will open on Saturday night, Dec. 7, 7 p.m. at the William Allen Middle School, 801 North Stanwick Road in Moorestown. MTC will march in the Lions Club Holiday Parade earlier in the day, after having a dress rehearsal in the morning. The full schedule of shows is as follows:
