5K Will Honor Life Of Teacher Killed In South Brunswick Crash

The "Purple For Pappas" 5K walk/run will be held to honor the life of Aubrey Pappas, a beloved teacher at Linwood Middle School.

A 5K walk/run will be held on Oct. 4 to honor a teacher who was killed in a car crash in South Brunswick.

The “Purple For Pappas” 5K walk/run will be held to honor the life of Aubrey Pappas, 35, a beloved teacher at Linwood Middle School in North Brunswick.

Pappas, the pregnant wife of a North Brunswick police officer, died in a crash last year on Deans Rhode Hall Road in South Brunswick after her vehicle hit a tree and burst into flames. At the time, police said a deer may have caused the crash.

The 5K will begins at 9 a.m. at the school. Proceeds will benefit The Aubrey Foundation, The Aubrey Pappas Scholarship and local first responders.

Some other North Brunswick roads will be shut down, including Linwood Place, Ridgewood Avenue, Newton Street, Bergen Avenue, Oakwood Place, Cleremont Avenue, Lee Avenue, Nassau Street, Remsen Avenue, Hollywood Street, Edgewood Place, Laurel Place, Maple Avenue, and Hermann Road, police said on their Facebook page.
