Code Blue Declared for Monday Night
Warming stations will also be open in New Brunswick on Tuesday.

Early morning warm rain melted away the snow on Monday, but cooling temperatures have caused the city to issue a Code Blue on Monday night, according to a Nixle alert from the New Brunswick Police Department.Â
"Code Blue" is issued in New Brunswick when temperatures fall below 20 degrees. Elijah's Promise will open its soup kitchen overnight to provide warm shelter and first responders will mobilize to make sure they locate people on the streets who need a warm place to stay.Â
Anyone in need of overnight shelter can to to the Elijah's Promise Soup Kitchen between the hours of 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, Jan. 6 through 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Transportation is available for those who cannot easily walk to the shelter. Call the Homeless Hotline at 2-1-1 or (877) 652-1148 to request assistance or alert emergency responders to a person on the street who may need help, according to the alert.Â
Those seeking a shelter with beds are asked to go to the nearby Ozanam Shelter at 20 Abeel St., according to the alert.     Â
The New Brunswick Free Public Library and the New Brunswick Senior Center will also serve as warming centers on Tuesday, according to the police department.
The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the senior center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to police.    Â
